Toy Aisle Recon Tips

Target uses round colored stickers on the end of pegs to indicate stocking status. Red indicates the item was reordered. Green indicates the item is being shipped. Grey indicates it's never to be reordered again.

Target clearance prices ending in 44 cents are at the lowest markdown price.

Some Toys R Us stores have bins on the top of each section of shelves. You can't miss them as they have colorful toy advertising on them. These swing open and are used for overstock. CHECK THESE!

Joining the ranks of Toys R Us is KMart. This retailer not only charges above manuracturer's suggested retail prices and competitor's, but also, in my experience, does not honor their own weekly advertisement circulars. Each store also appears to have no standard retail price with prices varying between stores. It is clearly evident why KMart is in bankruptcy. If you like paying extra for Joe items and arguing with store managers over prices, shop KMart. I'll pass.

This retailer is like a KMart thrift store. It carries many items that are clearance or discounted including toys. Don't be fooled by the inside appearance as you may find some good Joe bargains once you get past the KMart like disaster in the aisles. I have only listed the stores that I plan to visit frequently. There are at least another 10 stores in the DC area.
